Lucio Fontana, Concetto Spaziale


With few important auctions, August marks the divide between the spring and autumn semesters, allowing us to take stock of the situation of art market and to train collectors and investors to face the annual schedule – usually rich in important events – with greater awareness.

This time, taking advantage of the summer break, we analyze the results some great Italian masters (Lucio Fontana, Paolo Scheggi, Mario Schifano and Piero Dorazio) achieved selling their 60s works on canvas at international auctions over the past four semesters. We factored in the following categories: Fontana’s cuts, Scheggi’s overlapping canvases, Schifani’s monochromes and Dorazio’s crosshatched grids, along with some other similar objects created during the same period.
