URSULA CASAMONTI, FOLLOWING IN HER FATHER’S FOOTSTEPS, IS THE MANAGER OF TORNABUONI ART LONDON

Ursula Casamonti, for whom managing art galleries runs in the family, starts a new business in 2015, after a long experience in the family galleries, inaugurates “Tornabuoni Art London”.
Ursula, your life is permeated with art.
My father raised me in an environment where art plays a leading role. As young as a 15 year-old girl I would attend art fairs and was intrigued by the stories told by the many collectors who visited our galleries. Even though my father drove me towards this career it was my enthusiastic choice to sign up to a Bachelor’s degree in Art History at Siena University.
Has the gallerist job changed?
In the last 20 years the job has overturned. Collections have changed, along with the exhibiting trends, negotiating methods and even technology. In other words, I started a career and now I’m doing a different job. Art history, on the contrary, stays unchanged: innovation, artists’ new languages and their mission last over the years…
